Fern Index

We've divided our fern pages by genus. You can click on the Botanic Name or Image to go to the individual page. Unfortunately, most people don't think about, or refer to ferns by their botanic names. Even more unfortunately, the common names that most of us use are sometimes illogical, frequently confusing, and very often differ from region to region. The links below have the most common common names that we know listed. (We've included a pronunciation guide to encourage use of botanic names.) Don't forget to check the our Spring Fern Sale and the specials on our Fern Specials page.

Nursery Propagated Ferns - We do not sell ferns, or any other plants for that matter, that have been collected in the wild. All of our ferns have been nursery propagated. This not only protects wild populations, but potted, nursery propagated ferns are much easier to establish in the garden than plants dug in the wild and shipped bareroot.
