Daphnes have a well deserved
reputation as fussy plants. Even under ideal conditions they will
sometimes thrive for a few seasons and then wither away for no
apparent reason.
Daphne caucasica seems to be much easier and is the species
that most people have the best chance of success with. In our area a
position out of intense afternoon sun in average to rich soil is best.
It has fine, gray green foliage and a rounded, mounding habit. The
small white flowers are highly fragrant and bloom sporadically
throughout the summer.
